The unmistakable smell in the air when October hits has arrived. No, we’re not talking about the heart of fall or even the impending Halloween preparations. We’re talking about America’s biggest aftermarket auto show.
Yes, friends. SEMA is coming.
This year, we’re expecting the 2012 SEMA Show to be as action-packed as any previous installment and one car, in particular, is looking to make serious noise. We’ve already seen ARK Performance’s preview of their SEMA-bound Hyundai Genesis Coupe program. Today, Cosworth takes its turn with their own preview of the Genesis Coupe.
Dubbed the “Cosworth Genesis Racing Series,” Cosworth’s program for the Korean sports car sees plenty of upgrades, including custom blue bodywork that matches well with the carbon fiber components in the front bumper, the side skirts, and the rear diffuser. There’s also a trunk spoiler in the rear and a new set of custom wheels that finish off the exterior modifications.

The 2012 Pebble Beach Concours ended a long time ago, but it looks like vehicles from the show continues to appear. Today, we have a new episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, featuring the amazing Koenigsegg Agera R supercar.
In this video, Jay Leno doesn’t run the show, but Christian von Koenigsegg himself takes the lead and talks about one of the most impressive supercars the company has ever developed. He explains how easy this car can be transformed into a daily driver. In all honesty, we are not sure if it’s worth starting up the 5.0-liter V8 with twin turbos just to go to the corner, but hey, to each his own. We’d rather use the engine’s 1,140 HP for what it’s really supposed to do: beat someone to the line in style.

The SEMA Auto Show is the theater of dreams for a lot of aftermarket companies. For a tuning firm like Ice Nine Group, SEMA is yet another platform for them to prove why they’re one of the best in what they do.
Surely, we remember what Ice Nine Group did last year with Vaughn Gittin Jr., right? In case you’ve forgotten, this Ford Mustang Bosch Iridium Edition RTR is all you need to remember.
For their offering at the 2012 SEMA Auto Show, Ice Nine Group decided to give the new 2013 Ford Fusion some serious racing shine. And by serious, they even tapped Monster Energy Drink to be a partner in the build.

Volkswagen’s compact hatchback positioned right between the Up! and the Golf – the Polo – is all set to put on its big-boy pants. That’s right; VW is giving the Polo the “R” treatment. No, we’re not talking about the “R-Line” treatment, which is little more than some aesthetic changes. We mean the balls-to-the-wall high-performance “R” treatment, much like what the Golf is getting.
The details on this model are not yet complete, but we do know that it will borrow the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine from the outgoing GTI mk6. VW will then punch up its horsepower to the 225-pony range and ship it to the front wheels – no AWD option. According to reports, the Polo R will bolt to 60 mph in just over 6 seconds and give it a 150 mph top speed, making it extremely quick for its class. Sure, the Focus ST will smoke it, but it’s a step under the Focus’ class.

Remember the nugget of pure awesome that was the Bugatti EB110? Don’t worry if you don’t, as likely three-quarters of the world doesn’t remember the short-lived predecessor to the Veyron, which saw only 139 examples from 1991 through 1995. If you don’t remember that then you definitely don’t remember the lighter and more powerful EB110 Super Sport that was available in 1992.
