Is Porsche Just Hiring the Best of the Best or Prepping for a Return to F1?:

We have already learned the Porsche is returning to Le Mans, but now there are some new rumors with a little bit of validity regarding Porsche and professional racing. This new rumor is that Porsche is considering a return to F1. This rumor, however, has some strength, as Porsche has been hiring folks with F1 background. The latest hiring episode by Porsche included: Fritz Enzinger, Alex Hitzinger, Mike Krack and Urs Kuratle.
Enzinger was the Head of F1 Test and Race Organization at BMW Motorsport, Alex Hitzinger was the Head of Advanced Technologies’ for Red Bull F1 and Scuderia Toro Rosso, and Mike Krack and Urs Kuratle were race engineers at BMW Sauber. That’s a lot of F1 experience for any other manufacturer to hire, but Porsche is not your typical manufacturer, so those hirings alone are strange, but really no big deal.
There are also rumors that Porsche is scouring the F1 pits searching for more talent to add to its stable. This odd hiring trend combined with these rumors may be to prepare for Le Mans. If you really think about it though, wouldn’t Porsche hire a more eclectic group of racing experts or stick with Le Mans talent for that?
We definitely think there is something to this rumor and that Porsche will soon announce that it is returning to F1 in some capacity. Stay tuned for more!

We have been pinned for the past few weeks in order to get this year’s TransWorld SLAM up to standards, but now that all is said and done, we are more than happy with the outcome. Didn’t make it to Lake Elsinore this Saturday? Check out these shots and see what you missed.

It was that time of year again in SoCal, when we at TWMX take over one track for a day of riding and racing. This year we headed to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park for our biggest SLAM yet.

Catching Up With Ryan Hughes:
One of the most interesting additions to this weekend’s SLAM Pro Race roster is Ryan Hughes. A veteran of the sport, “Ryno” has been racing since before some of his competitiors were even born, but his speed and fitness are as sharp as ever. Though he is off the professional circuit, his life may actually be busier than ever by training riders, running a gym, and managing the Rynopower supplement brand. We got a few minutes of his time on Sunday night to talk about his expectations for this weekend.

How did the idea of you racing the SLAM this year come up?
Warren Johnson asked me if I wanted to do the Industry Cup for Fox, since I am an employee of them in the testing department, and I thought it sounded pretty fun. They said that the SLAM is on Saturday and that it is five grand to win and a cover, and I thought, “I could use five grand and my company could use a cover.” I’ll never know if I don’t try.

Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Fall Cup 2012: Pala Raceway:

The second round of the Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Fall Cup made its way to the southern-most track on the schedule, Pala Raceway. The day started off overcast with a mist in the air for practice, a sign the fall season is setting in. Pala Raceway had the normal, fast layout with a plethora of jumps mixed in to challenge every class of riders through the day. With 339 entries for the day, the track developed several lines as the racers searched for the perfect path through the braking bumps and ruts as the day wore on.
One of the local staples in the racing scene made a step up at the Pala round, as Andrew Silverstein made the move to the pro ranks, using the second round of the series to make his debut. Silverstein made an early statement as he shot out to the lead in his first moto and brought home a dominating win against some of the series regulars. The leader of one of the series sponsors also made an appearance, as Brian Deegan brought out his son to compete at the Pala race. The youngest representative of the Metal Mulisha was a hard charger in the Pee Wee class.
The Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Fall Cup has started off strong with heavy competition in every class. As the year winds down to a close, many riders have their sights set on the year end prize of a new Yamaha YZ450F motorcycle that will be raffled off to series members that have entered races throughout the year and have tickets in the drawing. The next round of the series rolls out to the legendary Perris Raceway, on October 28.

Brian Deegan brought his son out to contest the Pee Wee class at Pala.

Following a handful of seasons that would have left any other rider’s spirits dampened, Wil Hahn rebounded over the summer to take sixth overall in the 250 National standings. 2012 was eventful for Hahn, to say the least, as he claimed a heat race win at Anaheim One, then was sent to the sidelines with injury, came back to run a factory Team Honda Muscle Milk 450, and made it through an entire championship series for the first time in his career.

BMW is trying to come back from it 5-Series GT disappointment by offering a GT of its most popular model: the 3-Series. The 3-Series GT is the third model in the 3-er lineup and is taking its turn on the Nurburgring, providing a spectacular show of lifting its wheel during the famous Karussell turn.
BMW has seemingly learned from the 5-Series GT’s less than stellar sales by adopting a sleeker design for the new 3-er GT. The model will be built on the LWB platform from the Chinese version of the 3-series sedan and will therefore offer more interior room for the rear passengers. The new 3-Series GT will drop the twin-door hatch design in favor of a normal one piece hatch. It will also be 15 inches longer than the standard model and offer the added bonus of more headroom due to the shooting brake layout. The four-door coupe designed body will combine a set of raised, sliding rear seats with a high lifting tailgate that should make accessing the larger cargo area trouble-free.

Farfus claims fourth win of the season for BMW Motorsport in Valencia – Four BMW drivers in the points at penultimate race.
Valencia (ES), 30th September 2012. Brazilian debut in Valencia (ES): BMW Team RBM’s Augusto Farfus has won his first DTM race at the “Circuit de la Comunitat”. The 29-year-old, at the wheel of the Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM, crossed the finish line 8.406 seconds ahead of Adrien Tambay (FR, Audi) to become the first Brazilian in the history of the DTM to celebrate on the top step of the podium. He had previously claimed his first pole position in the series on Saturday.
