Hyundai Australia is making a serious statement at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show. Not content with just one concept showing, the Australian-based arm of the Korean automaker is presenting another one in the form of the Veloster Race Concept.
The car, which was developed in the country, is the company’s take on a new race car that was designed and engineered to meet FIA and CAMS tarmac rally competition regulations. Short of saying, this baby is ready for some racing.
The Veloster Race Concept is based on a Veloster Turbo and has been stripped down and rebuilt to become a full fledged rally car. Among the more notable modifications done to the car are a number of rally-spec components, including the installation of Kevlar high-performance fuel lines, a new DMS four-way adjustable suspension, competition brake pads from Project Mu, Super Pro brushes, and a new set of 18" Team Dynamics race wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires.
Inside, you’ll find no traces of a production Veloster Turbo. In place of all those goodies, Hyundai Australia opted for a carbon fiber-clad interior that comes with Recaro carbon seats and multi-point three-inch seat belts, a Sparco race steering wheel, an anti-glare dashboard, and most importantly, a CAMS-FIA-compliant roll cage.

After initial rumors and reports that Ferrari would unveil the highly anticipated flagship at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), now, according to Autoblog.com, reports suggest that Ferrari hasn’t finalized the plans for a worldwide launch. So, Ferrari enthusiasts who have penned down the date on their calendar will sadly have to strike them off.
On the other hand, the Prancing Horse might consider a private launch, separate from all the big car shows, so that they can grab more attention and more people to drool over it. A likely reason for its change of plans is because of the unveiling of the sister brand’s - Maserati - next generation Quattroporte. If debuted at the same show, the F70 would’ve drawn the entire Detroit population towards its stand leaving the Maserati stand deserted.

2014 Cadillac ELR
As if it wasn’t already obvious, given GM is about as good at holding its secrets as a tissue is at holding water, the Cadillac ELR has finally been confirmed for production. Production will kick off in late 2013 in the automaker’s Detroit-Hamtramck factory alongside the Chevy Volt, Opel Ampera, and Holden Volt. This will also bring about $35 million in updates to the plant in order to get it ready to handle the extra production and this high-tech extended-range EV.
There are still no exact figures on its driveline, but we all assume it will be based on the Chevy Volt’s platform. GM’s presser does let us know that the ELR will feature a T-shaped lithium-ion battery and will run primarily on electricity. Once the battery becomes discharged, a 4-cylinder engine will kick in to recharge the battery.

It’s really not hard to enjoy the new Versys 1000, especially when it comes with a combination of modern cutting-edge style with Kawasaki’s exclusive engineering style. You’ll also get the ultimate style and great flexibility in the multi-purpose Versys 1000. Yeah, the bike is that awesome.
The spacious color-coded panniers allow you to have a whole lot of trunk space. Plus, there’s a tank pad that makes your Versys 1000 Grand Tourer a really attractive Grand Tourer bike.
At the heart of this vehicle, there’s a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve 1,043 cm3 in-line four engine with a bore and stroke of 77.0 x 56.0 mm that is useful for bringing a strong low-mid range torque with smooth power release. When compared to the Z1000, the Versys 1000’s engine brings a stronger low-mid range with the reduced peak power and both peak power and torque happen at lower rpm.
As far as user ability and functionality is concerned, the Versys 1000 has that covered too, thanks to a tough-design multi-function instrumentation with an analog-style tachometer and LCD with speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, clock, dual trip meters, current and average fuel consumption, remaining range, and external air temperature.
Enjoy your riding with this exclusive and modern Versys 1000 Grand Tourer.

As you probably have noticed we have had tons of recalls in the past few months. It started with 10-20 units recalled here and there and culminated with the monstrous 7.4 million units recalled announced by Toyota. And now Maserati is also joining the recalling list with a total of 485 2012 Quattroporte, Granturismo, GranCabrio, and Granturismo MC vehicles.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may malfunction due to a software error, preventing the driver from being notified of a low tire pressure situation. And if the driver will continue using the vehicle with a tire that has low air pressure, the tire may fail, increasing the risk of a crash.
So, if you drive such a more you should contact your local dealer and you’ll have the TPMS control unit replaced free of charge. The campaign is expected to begin in early November 2012. You may contact Maserati at 1-201-816-2600 in order to find out more details about the recall.

Steeda is one of the tuners with the most impressive tuning packages presented at the SEMA Show. And this year is no exception from that rule: the tuner has prepared a very cool Focus ST for those of you who will take a trip to Las Vegas for the show.

Maserati Corse unveiled their new GranTurismo MC GT3 at the Fiat Industrial Village Motorfest in Turin, Italy, but the reveal was a little behind considering the vehicle has already shown everyone what it can do by winning its first race at the last Superstars GT Sprint at Italian Autodromo Di Vallelunga. Driver Alessandro Pier Guidi was behind the wheel during the victory.
This race was just a preparation for the upcoming Superstars GT race in Pergusa set to begin in just a few days. Maserati hasn’t made an appearance in this series since 2004, but the company is now ready for another round with a race car that seems to be screaming "Here I am!"
The new GranTurismo MC GT3 Race Car was based on the MC Stradale street-version, but it adds a more racing-inspired appearance with a new front spoiler lip, new side skirts, and a huge rear wing that will provide stability during high-speed racing.

Just days ago we let you know that Mini pretty much used FIA homologation rules to its advantage by finishing up the 2012 season and calling it quits, now another manufacturer is following suit. There have been rumors floating around since 2011 that Ford Europe was going to pull out of the World Rally Championship and that will become a reality following the 2012 season, as Ford Europe announced that it will pull its sponsorship following the 2012 season.
Unlike Mini, Ford has been a long-running sponsor, lasting 16 seasons. With that long of a history, it is more obvious that Ford’s pull out is mostly due to the crumbling automotive market in Europe. Despite pulling its sponsorship, Ford will provide M-Sport, its WRC partner since 1997, with the Fiesta R5 rally car, along with engineering and vehicle support following its departure. In addition, Ford Europe will still offer the Fiesta R2 rally car for grass-roots national and regional driver programs.

The most powerful Bentley model up to date is the Continental Supersports. It is powered by a 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 unit that delivers an impressive 630 HP. However, a company insider has hinted that an even more powerful version of its W12 engine could be on the way.
The same source has announced that a Supersports version of the latest Continental GT could deliver up to 650 HP. And that’s because recent testings have confirmed that the W12 engine has the capacity to develop more than 105 hp/liter and that without harming reliability or drivability.
The company has recently conducted a durability test for the W12 unit during which the engine was put to four 100-hour sessions at full throttle, or in another words 20,000 miles at over 200 mph. And it looks like the engine passed those testings quite well.
And now Bentley wants to squeeze more from the most successful engine they had in their line-up. And why shouldn’t they, no? A 650 HP luxury sports car will surely put lots of other companies in trouble.

Noted Mercedes tuner Kicherer has spoiled us with many aftermarket programs for the German automaker. So you expect a certain level of hype surrounding any new project they release and as expected, their latest project for the mighty SLS AMG has lived up to all of our expectations - and then some.
Comprised of aerodynamic and performance upgrades, the SLS AMG Supercharged GT carries hand-crafted vertical fin grilles that pay homage to one of Mercedes’ iconic models, the 1952 300 SL Carrera Panamericana. The SLS AMG version doesn’t have a huge Silver Arrows badge plastered in the center grille, which might have been a good idea because it would look less tacky and doesn’t take anything away from the overall profile of the supercar.
More than just the classic-inspired grille, Kicherer also took the time to dress up the SLS AMG with a satin matte black exterior finish. The German tuner also fitted a new carbon fiber front lip spoiler, added a subtle rear diffusor and carbon fins for the front fenders and the engine bonnet. Finishing off the exterior modifications are a new set of Kicherer’s own 20" and 21" RS-1 light-weight forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

It looks like Focus ST will be one of the main attraction at Ford’s stand at the upcoming SEMA Show. One of models to be displayed in Las Vegas has been specially customized by world record holder and X-Games Gold medalist Tanner Foust.
He wanted to develop a competent weekend track/canyon warrior, but also comfortable enough to endure a Southern California commute. The standard Focus ST is powered by a 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine that delivers a total of 250 HP, but Tanner Foust knew the car can do much better than this. So he and his crew worked on improving the car’s performances.
And even if they did not revealed any official numbers just yet, we know that the list of updates is quite impressive and includes: increased air intake, and a signature MagnaFlow exhaust add power. And because this car delivers extra performance it also receive a fully adjustable front and rear suspension for added flexibility.
If you will also add a custom body kit then you will definitely obtain the most aggressive Focus ST you have ever seen!

As you can see, the car is still heavily camouflaged, hiding just about everything, but we still expect to see big changes in the design of the future MDX, including some design elements from the RLX Concept.

Their 2013 season will benefit from the new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo that was unveiled this past Sunday with a new look for the Italian automaker’s customer racing program.
The new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 street version, but adds a look more appropriate for racing. Its added elements include a new spoiler design, a new rear diffuser, and new wheel arches.
We don’t expect to see any changes under the hood, so the car will most likely retain its usual 5.2-liter V10 engine with 570 HP.

We’ve seen some pretty zany graphics done on a lot of cars over the years. What we haven’t seen before is a zipper. Yeah, a zipper.
Somehow, though, Jeep and Mopar managed to do that to a Grand Cherokee. It’s called the Cherokee Half & Half and as the name evidently suggests, it’s so named because of the dual identity Jeep and Mopar wanted to convey to the SUV. Hence, the use of an actual oversized Mopar zipper attached to the front bumper. SEMA would be so proud.
On one half of the Grand Cherokee is actually a perfectly fine, albeit non-customized Deep Cherry Pearl Coat Grand Cherokee Laredo. As for the other half of the SUV, that’s where Mopar used a plethora of its own accessories to illustrate a "before-and-after" look to the Grand Cherokee. Even the wheels are of different sizes with the regular model boasting of 17" wheels whereas the Moparized side was fitted with 20" chrome wheels.
This odd example of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was also translated in other parts of the exterior, including chrome on the mesh-grille insert, tube steps, mirror caps, a hood air deflector and fog lamp bezels. The SUV also has a trailer hitch with a wiring harness, front tow hooks, a bright license plate frame, roof rack cross bows and, and a luggage carrier - or half of it, as we should say.
Moving to the interior, one half is normal and the other part comes dressed with Mopar goodies, including a premium Katzkin Tuscany Leather interior, logo door-sill guards, a bright pedal kit, all-weather mats, a cargo tray, and a cargo net.
Talking about weird aftermarket projects, this one’s definitely on top of that list.

We have already learned the Porsche is returning to Le Mans, but now there are some new rumors with a little bit of validity regarding Porsche and professional racing. This new rumor is that Porsche is considering a return to F1. This rumor, however, has some strength, as Porsche has been hiring folks with F1 background. The latest hiring episode by Porsche included: Fritz Enzinger, Alex Hitzinger, Mike Krack and Urs Kuratle.
Enzinger was the Head of F1 Test and Race Organization at BMW Motorsport, Alex Hitzinger was the Head of Advanced Technologies’ for Red Bull F1 and Scuderia Toro Rosso, and Mike Krack and Urs Kuratle were race engineers at BMW Sauber. That’s a lot of F1 experience for any other manufacturer to hire, but Porsche is not your typical manufacturer, so those hirings alone are strange, but really no big deal.
There are also rumors that Porsche is scouring the F1 pits searching for more talent to add to its stable. This odd hiring trend combined with these rumors may be to prepare for Le Mans. If you really think about it though, wouldn’t Porsche hire a more eclectic group of racing experts or stick with Le Mans talent for that?
We definitely think there is something to this rumor and that Porsche will soon announce that it is returning to F1 in some capacity. Stay tuned for more!

Have you ever wondered how much power a Dodge Charger can really deliver? Well, it’s definitely not the 292 HP in the standard V6 engine or the 370 HP provided by the muscle car’s current V8 engine. At the 2012 SEMA Auto Show, Mopar is going to show us just how much juice can be pumped from the Charger with a tuning package of their own.
Technically, Mopar cheated in the sense that they stripped the Charger of its engine and threw in a Viper V-10 Mopar crate engine featuring Mopar cold air intakes and a Mopar cat-back exhaust. This engine delivers an impressive 650 HP, but also tones down the emissions to remain eco-friendly.
The rest of the package consists of some exterior and interior updates, starting with a new front chin spoiler, a new hood with functional forward-facing intake, and a roof carry. The hood and decklid feature matte black graphics, while the cool Metallic "Copperhead" exterior paint is combined with matte black on the grille badge and the exclusive 20" lightweight wheels.

Okay, the BMW M6 Gran Coupe is really not a big secret. Heck, some savvy photographers caught it frolicking in the snow a few months ago. At that time, the Gran Coupe was all covered up with psychedelic livery, so you couldn’t make out what was really going on with the body.
An even savvier photographer recently caught an image of what appears to be the M6 Gran Coupe up in the air at BMW being worked on (above). There is a small chance that this is simply a 6-Series Bimmer converted into an M6 Gran Coupe. If that’s the case, then that is the cleanest conversion we’ve ever seen, so a conversion is doubtful. These changes bump the output from the standard 335 HP at 5,900 rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm to 450 HP and 405 lb-ft of torque.

Lamborghini unveiled the new Gallardo LP560-4 back at the 2012 Paris Auto Show in September, but only displayed the model in coupe form. We expected the Spyder version to come about sometime during a future auto show, but the the images of the drop top variant have unceremoniously surfaced online. This is an interesting move from Lamborghini considering that no information has been unveiled in the past few weeks which would make any of us think this was coming.
The only major difference we can see between the Spyder and the Coupe is the missing roof. There is also a "New Gallardo" logo in the front bumper to distinguish this new version of the Gallardo.
Under the hood, Lamborghini will keep the usual 5.2-liter V-10 DOHC engine that delivers a total of 552 HP at 8,000 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. Because of the addition of the heavier roof, the performance numbers will be slightly lower than in the coupe version, which does the 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 201 mph.

Catching Up With Ryan Hughes:
One of the most interesting additions to this weekend’s SLAM Pro Race roster is Ryan Hughes. A veteran of the sport, “Ryno” has been racing since before some of his competitiors were even born, but his speed and fitness are as sharp as ever. Though he is off the professional circuit, his life may actually be busier than ever by training riders, running a gym, and managing the Rynopower supplement brand. We got a few minutes of his time on Sunday night to talk about his expectations for this weekend.
How did the idea of you racing the SLAM this year come up?
Warren Johnson asked me if I wanted to do the Industry Cup for Fox, since I am an employee of them in the testing department, and I thought it sounded pretty fun. They said that the SLAM is on Saturday and that it is five grand to win and a cover, and I thought, “I could use five grand and my company could use a cover.” I’ll never know if I don’t try.

One of the local staples in the racing scene made a step up at the Pala round, as Andrew Silverstein made the move to the pro ranks, using the second round of the series to make his debut. Silverstein made an early statement as he shot out to the lead in his first moto and brought home a dominating win against some of the series regulars. The leader of one of the series sponsors also made an appearance, as Brian Deegan brought out his son to compete at the Pala race. The youngest representative of the Metal Mulisha was a hard charger in the Pee Wee class.
The Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Fall Cup has started off strong with heavy competition in every class. As the year winds down to a close, many riders have their sights set on the year end prize of a new Yamaha YZ450F motorcycle that will be raffled off to series members that have entered races throughout the year and have tickets in the drawing. The next round of the series rolls out to the legendary Perris Raceway, on October 28.

Brian Deegan brought his son out to contest the Pee Wee class at Pala.

Fisker Looking into "Strategic Partnerships":

Fresh from managing to nickel and dime an extra $100 million from private investors, Fisker is all but admitting that it needs more help – significantly more. In a rcent interview, Fisker let the cat out of the proverbial bag that it is currently looking to ink some partnership deals with larger manufacturers.
Though there is no mention of who Fisker may be looking to partner up with, its CEO-for-the-moment, Tony Posawatz, said that a partnership is “on our radar screen.” Chances are it will be looking for deals similar to the ones that Tesla has entered into with Daimler and Toyota. The real question is who would be interested in tying themselves to Fisker at this point in the game?
With the financial, quality, and safety issues that Fisker has endured lately, it may be more of a burden than it’s worth. This is almost the identical reason that no one is interested in Lotus to date; it’s just too risky of a venture.

Confirmed: Fisker Atlantic powered by BMW’s 4-cylinder turbo engine: dsa
Fisker Atlantic made its debut last week at the 2012 New York Auto Show, but production plans are yet to be finalized. Despite the uncertainty around the launch date, the company is moving forward with its plans and signed an agreement with BMW that gives them access to the new N20 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharge engine.
The electric coupe will use the second-generation EVer (Electric Vehicle with extended range) powertrain coupled with the BMW turbo engine. At launch time, the Atlantic model is expected to be priced around $55,000, positioning it somewhere in line with the Audi A5 or BMW 335i.

Fisker Atlantic resembles the more expensive Karma model, but with redesigned grille and headlights, and a wider trunk opening that splits LED tail lamps.
The automaker is about $150 million short of the cash it needs to build the Atlantic, but the company relies on loans from the Department of Energy which will allow to kick-off the production lines in Delaware.
BMW introduced the N20 engine last year at the Geneva Motor Show. The new 2.0 liter engine combines highpressure direct-injection and BMW’s VALVETRONIC intake control. The turbocharger is a twin-scroll system. The exhaust streams leaving the two pairs of cylinders are kept completely separate as they flow through the exhaust manifold and the turbocharger.
The engine produces 240 horsepower between 5,000 and 6,500 and 260 lb-ft of torque, and it currently powers the 328i, 528i and Z4 sDrive28i models in the United States.

So, Fisker has been out and about doing its corporate panhandling, err, "fundraising program" in an attempt to raise $150 million to keep its doors open and develop a red hot following to the on-fire Karma, which sold 1,500 models – all of which have been recalled at least once. Fisker plans to release this new follow-up model, the Atlantic, in December 2012.
Well, it looks like interest is starting to decrease in the Fisker line up, as it fell a full $50 million short of its fundraising goal. Fisker’s latest CEO stand-in, Tony Posawatz, seems to think that this is plenty of money to keep the heat turned on and develop its follow up model to the Karma. In a statement, Posawatz said ““We are grateful to both our investors and our initial customers who have supported our company and are quickly becoming our biggest advocates.” He also said “This is another major vote of confidence in Fisker’s pioneering technology and business model”

The 2013 Koenigsegg Agera R made its official debut earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show and now, a few months after the Quail and the McCall Motorworks Revival during the Pebble Beach weekend, the car has officially landed on the American market.
Christian von Koenigsegg welcomed many of the company’s current American clients, as well as many new ones, and he was pleased to inform everyone that the Agera R was given a warm welcome in the US.
The bad news about this scenario is the price tag. On the US market, the Agera R is priced at an impressive $1.5 million, but can get even more ridiculous considering Koenigsegg’s new bespoke personalization service. For the money, customers will get a supercar powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with twin turbos that delivers an impressive 1,115 HP. The car will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and up to an impressive top speed of 273 mph.

Famed UK tuner Kahn Design has a new program for the Range Rover and for this one, they’re getting some assistance from a reliable friend: engine tuner Cosworth.
So yeah, there’s more than just cosmetic changes on this new Kahn-tuned bad boy.
Comprising of an exclusive body package that includes a Kahn Copper Metallic finish, Kahn’s magic touch was evident from the get-go. Among the added components are a number of parts finished in the RangeRover’s body color, including the rear diffuser, the RS front grille surround insert, door handles, and door mirrors. From there, Kahn installed an RS extended large upper roof wing, an RS front grille with a 3D mesh, an RS quad oval exhaust system, RS vented front and rear wheel arches with integrated front air dams, and RS vented rear, brake calipers finished in copper. Finishing off the exterior modifications are LED daytime running lights on the front wheel arches, a privacy tinted glass, Kahn enamel wing shields, and a new set of 22" satin black RS wheels with orange pin striping.

Back in August 2012, we brought out the first spy shots of the next generation Smart Fortwo and now we have proof that the company is also working on the new generation ForFour. A test mule for the car has just been spotted testing for the first time.
The new ForFour will actually be a four-door version of the next ForTwo and will be offered with both rear engine and rear-wheel-drive layout. The model will be built on the same platform as the new Renault Twingo - a platform that will most likely be used for a small Nissan city car. It is believed that the next two models will borrow some of the design cues seen on the Smart Forstars Concept unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.
Expect the Smart ForTwo to be the first of the two vehicles to hit the market in 2014, with the ForFour coming in 2015. The production of the two models, however, will be done simultaneously.
